The authorities on Friday announced shutdown in many villages under four gram panchayats in Baleswar and Deogarh districts following detection of fresh Covid-19 cases.
As per a notification issued by the Baleswar Collector, the villages of Anko, Agiria, Podadiha of Anko GP and Agamouda, Kadamouda, Berhampur, Mirigimundi, Taharpur, Kasipada, Huja, Narandiha, Agorgohira of Kasipada GP would be completely shut after 33 Covid-19 positive cases were detected in these villages under the densely- populated Sadar block.
The total shutdown would remain in force in these villages of Anko and Kasipada GPs from 7 pm of July 10 till 5 am of July 14 with exemption of only essential services including ambulance, fire service, drinking water and power supply with limited personnel ad sanitisation-related works.
The passes earlier issued to commuters of these areas by the district administration or the SP would remain suspended during the period.
Besides, shutdown has been enforced in all the villages of Bamprada and Golabandha GPs from 12 pm of July 10 to 10 pm of July 12 in Deogarh district.
The Sarpanches of these GPs announced the shutdown after three personnel belonging to the 4th Battalion located in Bamprada GP tested Covid positive.
As most of the Jawans are residing at houses on rent in Bamprada and Golabandha GPs, the authorities declared the shutdown in the villages.
