Gautam Nagar police has nabbed three drug peddlers near Union Carbide factory and recovered drugs worth Rs 4.5 lakh from their possession. They were loading the consignment in an auto rickshaw in the night on Friday.
Police said that acting on a tip-off regarding three men carrying drugs in a loading auto rickshaw near Union Carbide factory and when the rickshaw was checked Cannabis was recovered.
The three miscreants were identified a Anwar Ali (40), Khurshid Khan (50) and Zoyab (20). The drugs were weighing 61.5 kg which was in the loading auto rickshaw.
After the initial investigation police have registered a case under relevant sections and when the accused were grilled they confessed that the main accused behind the illegal drug trafficking is Shammi alias Shameer Uddin of Nariyalkheda.
Shammi provided the nabbed accused with drugs and loading auto rickshaw and drugs were scheduled to deliver near Union Carbide factory. Based on the details of the main accused his house was raided but accused managed to escaped and is still absconding.
Police said that after the arrest of the accused the nexus in area and nearby areas of the district could be unearthed. The accused also revealed that Shammi has provided the loading auto rickshaw with fake registration number.
The three have confessed that the customers were Kuchbandiya and they were searched in Nariyalkheda, Gautam Nagar and Itwara areas after accused revealed the details.
