Going all out to thwart liquor smuggling attempts, Mohali Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan on Tuesday called upon people to join the bid and call or WhatsApp to report liquor smuggling.
“Anybody can give a tip off regarding the smuggling of liquor by calling or sending a WhatsApp message on number 9888422998 or by calling on the control room number 0172-2219506,” said Dayalan.
“The District Administration has developed a strong mechanism to crackdown on the smuggling of liquor in the district. We are increasing vigil, nakas, surprise checks, and raids and are also roping in people as they can be good informants of illegal activity in their neighbourhood,” he said.
Taking due precaution of safety and security of the informant, he assured that complete anonymity of the informant will be maintained.
Further, the District Administration would also suitably reward the informant whose tip-off leads to the seizure of liquor.
Pertinently, 24x7 manning of all entry points is being done by a joint team of Police and Excise. To check the pilferage, activities in distilleries and the bottling plants are under scanner.
Strict watch is also being kept on outward movement of trucks to ensure that they carry the required documents such as bills, bilty and e-waybill.
