Monday, 19 October 2020 | Staff Reporter | NEW DELHI

Traders and shopkeepers in Delhi joined the “10 Hafte 10 Baje 10 Minute anti-dengue campaign” on Sunday. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal welcomed the move and thanked the shopkeepers of Delhi for taking part in the campaign and protecting themselves and their customers from dengue.

The seventh week of the campaign seeks to encourage shopkeepers to inspect their shops and surroundings for stagnant water every Sunday for 10 minutes and drain it to prevent the breeding of Dengue mosquitoes around them.

“This time, shopkeepers of Delhi also took part in the fight against dengue, checked the shops and changed the stagnant water. By doing so, they are protecting themselves and their customers from dengue. Delhi is again defeating Dengue,” Kejriwal tweeted. Market associations across Delhi came forward in support of this campaign on Sunday.

“I support this campaign by Delhi Kejriwal against dengue. We are practising this in all the markets, regularly changing the deposited water and inspecting our surroundings thoroughly. We also support the 10 Hafte 10 Baje 10 Minute campaign launched by the Delhi CM. Today we have participated in this campaign and we will continue active participation in this battle against dengue,” said Sushil Khatri, head of Tilak Nagar market association.

Ashu Goel, Sushil Khatri, Mohan Gandhi, Rajeev Suri, Ravneet Kaur, and other traders and shopkeepers of Tilak Nagar market association participated in the campaign.

Kejriwal had also said that with the collective efforts of all the Delhiites, “We have to stop the breeding of dengue mosquitoes and protect our family and the entire Delhi from Dengue.” Inspecting the surrounding market areas and their shops will keep the shopkeepers as well as their customers safe from Dengue.
