Two more positive cases reported in Chandigarh

Two more fresh cases of Covid-19 have been reported in Chandigarh on Sunday, taking the total number of positive cases to 21.

The two positive cases are 55 years old woman (mother-in-law) and 8 years old girl (daughter), both relatives of 40 years old male resident of Sector 37, who was tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday last.

The Sector 37 male resident has four household contacts which include wife, mother, an 8 years old daughter and a 20 days old baby who was born at Santokh Nursing Home on March 20.

“Out of four household contacts, two are tested positive for Covid-19, one is tested negative while another one has been re-sampled for the testing,” said a senior UT officer.

He said that 55 years old woman, who is a resident of Delhi and is mother-in-law of positive case of Sector 37 male, was visiting Chandigarh to take care of her daughter who was due to deliver in March. She has been tested positive and her 8 years old granddaughter has also been tested positive for coronavirus.

“During contact tracing process, 114 contacts have been traced so far. Out of these four are household contacts and 110 are community contacts (primary, secondary and remote contacts). Out of 110 community contacts, three primary contacts have been sampled and all these three are negative. Two more primary community contacts are being sampled for testing,” he added.

Till Sunday evening, Chandigarh has so far reported 21 positive Coronavirus cases, out of which seven have recovered.
