Tension ran high in the Malgodown area under the Udit Nagar police station in Rourkela on Thursday when two persons suffered gunshot injuries in a group clash.
As many as seven persons of two communities were detained and five platoons of police forces have been deployed in the area to preve the situation from flaring up further.
The clash took place the groups of two slums reportedly over past enmity.
During the faceoff, a youth Parvez firerd couple of rounds in which two youths Rohit Patnaik and Raju sustained injuries. While the accused youth fled from the spot following the incident, the two injured persons were shifted to the Ispat General Hospital (IGH) here.
Getting information, the Udit Nagar police reached the spot and brought the situation under control. They detained seven persons including Parvez in the incident.
Source said that the clash broke following a heated argument between Parvez and Rohit over a past incident. Later, the police detained Parvez along with six others.
