A woman Home Guard allegedly sexually harassed a young woman in Umarkote of Nabarangpur district for the past four years.
The matter came to the fore when the victim lodged a complaint at the Umarkote police station against the accused cop on Monday.
As per the complainant, the Home Guard from Bhimaguda of Umarkote picked up the woman from her home in 2016. The cop then took her to Dabugaon and kept her in a house for eight days.
Later, the cop took the complainant to a rented house in Kusumguda and kept her along with two other young women. The cop used to have physical relationship with the three women at the house, the complainant stated.
However, in the wee hours on May 17, the cop dropped the complainant at her house and threatened her family members that she would end her life if they revealed anything about the lesbian relationship and blame them for the suicide, the complaint stated.
When the Home Guard was transferred to the Dabugaon police station, the victim’s family members mustered courage and lodged a complaint with the Umarkote police.
When contacted, the Umarkote SDPO refused to comment on the matter and said investigation was on.
