Youth kills beloved in Nabarangpur

Saturday, 11 July 2020 | PNS | NABARANGPUR

A 27-year-old youth allegedly strangulated her beloved to death in the Tentulikhunta police station area of Nabarangpur district on Thursday following repeated objections by the latter’s family to their relationship.

Bhisma Harijan had love affair with the daughter of one Surya Ganda for last five years. He had also promised to marry the girl, who was in Plus III Third Year and also worked as a daily labourer to support her family. However, her family had reprimanded Bhisma many a times over the relationship.

The girl’s mother said Bhisma had called up her daughter on Thursday to meet him. When the woman, who also works as a daily labourer, returned home, she did not find her daughter. Later, the family found the girl in a school building at Anchalagumma village in an unconscious state. The girl had fingernail marks on her neck. The family took her to a hospital, where doctors declared her dead.

The girl’s mother lodged an FIR against Bhisma, following which police detained him and began investigation. “A murder case has been registered in this connection and investigation is underway,” said Tentulikhunta PS IIC Paramananda Sunani.
