Kolar police has nabbed a 19-year-old youth who molested and assaulted a 17-year-old girl while the victim was on her way to home in the evening on Thursday.
According to the police, the victim was on her way to home when the accused Neelesh Ahirwar obstructed her way and tried to molest her and later assaulted her when she tried to oppose.
The victim raised an alarm after which locals rushed to her rescue. The accused escaped from the spot. The police have started investigation and registered case of molestation.
The victim lives at her home after class 10 exams this year. The accused used to visit the home frequently and would tease and molest her.
After the complaint was lodged, the accused who works as labourer escaped from the spot and before leaving threatened her of life and went absconding.
Accused had tried to talk to the victim several times and would pass comments when she would go for school or any another work.
Based on the complaint and after the preliminary investigation, police registered a case of molestation, threatening of life, assaulting the victim and POCSO Act and nabbed the accused.
Police suspect that the accused is involved in other crimes and would be quizzed soon.
