Heart-warming Kiwi hospitality

Sunday, 25 October 2020 | Shalini Saksena | New Delhi

Traveling is definitely not on many people’s agenda due to the present pandemic but that doesn’t mean that one can’t see the world. While for many it may not be the same thing but it can give one a sneak peek and get them interested in traveling to that country when things are a lot better. With this aim in mind, Tourism New Zealand virtually launched its campaign Messages from New Zealand.

The aim of the campaign, which was launched in the presence of Steven Dixon, Tourism New Zealand’s regional trade marketing manager, Asia and David Pine, New Zealand’s High Commissioner to India, is to feature a video message of hope and care with their international family (whanau). Each video shared will present a unique Kiwi perspective about what is important to them.

The Tourism New Zealand partnering with its Indian family highlights their own personal experiences and connections with the country. Dixon said that since the travel industry has been impacted by the COVID-19, it is important now more than ever, that we stay connected to visitors and our travel trade friends in India. “New Zealand is a place where guests become a family. These relationships are something that we are proud of and want to celebrate and continue in perpetuity. Through this campaign we are staying in touch with our international family and letting them know that we are waiting to welcome them to our shores again when the time is right and borders reopen, ”Dixon tells you.

An example of how Tourism New Zealand has been keeping connections strong in India, is its response to a survey conducted in May 2020 among travel trade representatives. The survey highlighted that 99 per cent of travel trade contacts were interested in attending hosted webinars during the lockdown period. And hence, conducted 10 webinars which saw 5,000 travel agents participation across India.
