Virgin Bhanupriya confirms OTT release

After Gulabo Sitabo, Shakuntala Devi and Ghoomketu, the Urvashi Rautela-starrer Virgin Bhanupriya is the latest Bollywood film to confirm a release on an OTT platform, bypassing a traditional theatre opening.

“We are in conversation now to release it directly on OTT. Looking at the current situation, and the revenue one is getting from OTT, this seems like a good option than waiting when there is so much uncertainty in terms of opening of theatres,” said its producer Mahendra Dhariwal.

‘I can't believe it's been 20 years. I clearly remember how shy I was when I joined this field. Twenty years is a long time. It's been an interesting journey for me because there were many ups and lows. Unfortunately, I did not do many films but all the aspects and phases of my life have made me a better and a stronger person.’

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, who returns to acting as a corrupt cop in the self-coproduced digital film Ghoomketu, says he really hates acting but he had no choice but to say yes to the project.

He said: “I had no choice. I really hate acting but it's always the emotional blackmail that works. Also the desire to be with Nawaz on-screen and Pushpi (writer-director Pushpendra Nath Misra) and his narration. And to be in the same film as Raghubir Yadav, Ila Arun and Swanand (Kirkire)... wait till you see them on screen.”

‘I knew people will like the show’

Actor Stephen James says he knew people would love Homecoming season one as it featured Hollywood superstar Julia Roberts.

“Any time you're in a show with a pretty and talented woman like Julia Roberts, you know that people are going like it. So, I definitely knew that people were going to watch the show,” James said.

“But honestly, I have to say, I was probably pretty much blown away by the response,” he added.
