India’s first Covid patient tests positive yet again

Wednesday, 14 July 2021 | PNS | KOCHI

A girl from Thrissur who was the first to test positive for the Covid-19 virus in the country in January 2020, has again been diagnosed with the infection.

The District Medical Officer (DMO) of Thrissur told reporters that the girl was diagnosed with Covid-19 during a mandatory check-up before her departure to New Delhi. “She has not yet been vaccinated and did not show any signs of the infection,” said the DMO.

The girl is a medical student studying in Wuhan, China, the global epicentre of the pandemic. “She had returned to India in January 2020 when the situation in Wuhan had taken a turn for the worse. At that time she had shown symptoms of the disease,” he said.
