Exploring all genres is important: ARSLAN

Arslan Goni says as an actor one often comes across projects that may sound great on paper but could end up seeming not so great when seen on screen. It is the reason why working with the right director becomes important for an actor.

“There are quite a few things that sometimes have sounded great on paper and then not so great on celluloid. Hence, I believe the director is very important for whichever work he is taking you in,” said Arslan.

He believes when it comes to an actor, exploring all genres is equally important. Arslan for one does not differentiate between fiction and fantasy. “When it comes to fiction and fantasy, honestly I would love to explore both,” he said.

“I want to do roles that give me a chance to showcase my skills as an actor. There is so much inside me that I haven't let out there yet. I promise to the people watching me that whenever I get a chance, I will shock them. Both the role and the story should be good,” Arslan declared.

His latest offering is Mai Hero Boll Raha Hun, where he essays the role of Lala, a gangster. The show is based on the story of Nawab, played by Parth Samthaan, who becomes a powerful underworld don.

‘I love the short film genre’

Actor Shagun Pandey, who is part of the short film Blind Love, says while it was tough to take time out of his busy schedule to shoot for the film, he is glad he did it.

“I love the short film genre. It allows you to explore so much as an actor in a short period of time. This was my first attempt to do a short film and my director Prradip Khairwar convinced me to take this up. I first met him when I was shooting a music video for Guru Randhawa. Pradeep sir was there in the creative team. He asked me for my time and then I got busy with Kyun Utthe Dil Chhod Aaye, my TV show. Somehow, I managed the time and we shot in Shimla for two days and wrapped this up” he said.

The film also stars Aalisha Panwar. Talking about the equation he shares with her, Shagun says: “Aalisha is a very happy and energetic personality and so am I, and our director. I have always believed that genuine emotions always gets portrayed on screen. Aalisha and I are both from Chandigarh and I used to work as a coordinator so I have taken her auditions in the past. We knew each other since then.”

Himani shivpuri mourns laxman’s demise

Actor Himani Shivpuri, who worked in films such as Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! and Hum Saath-Saath Hain, mourned the death of veteran music director Laxman of the Raam Laxman duo, who passed away on Saturday.

Himani said: “It is definitely a huge loss because they have given such iconic numbers. All the songs Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! and Hum Saath-Saath Hain are so beautiful. These movies keep on playing even today and their songs are fresh as ever.”

“Didi tera dewar was a perennial favourite in all marriages. So many songs — it is really a huge loss. What iconic music he has given, and I just pray for the soul of the departed and offer my condolence to the family.”

Laxman's real name was Vijay Patil. His partner Surendra passed away in 1976, soon after they signed the Mahendra Sandhu-starrer Agent Vinod. Vijay continued to use his partner's name and continued creating music as Raam Laxman in Surendra's memory. Their major hits came in collaboration with Rajshri Productions.

“What beautiful numbers in Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!. That was my first commercial film. The song Didi tera dewar deewana is so catchy and beautiful. The sitar in the Samdhan song of the film was also so beautiful. I have such beautiful memories of that film,” Himani said.

She also reminisced about the tracks Sunoji dulhan and Maiya Yashodha from Hum Saath-Saath Hain created by Raam Laxman.
