The ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh’ victory flame, commemorating the 50th anniversary of India's victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war, will arrive in Chhattisgarh on October 12, it was announced on Thursday.
The flame will reach Chilpi area in Kabirdham district and it will be in the state till October 19. The Army will hold ceremonial and cultural events before its departure.
A ceremony to felicitate veterans and Veer Naris of the 1971 operation from the region will be held at a function at Governor House on October 13, a press release said.
The celebration was flagged off from the National War Memorial in New Delhi on December 16 last year.
Four victory flames, lit from the eternal flame at National War Memorial, are being carried across cities and villages including the villages of Param Vir Chakra and Maha Vir Chakra awardees of the 1971 war.
