Wednesday, 14 April 2021 | PNS | PURI

Amidst the resurge in Covid-19 cases, 10 servitors of the Jagannath Temple here have reportedly tested positive for the virus. Besides, family members of two of the servitors have also contracted the virus.

Sources further said three staffs of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), eight from the temple’s shoes stand, a staff of the temple police and a gardener have also been infected with the virus. All the affected persons have been kept under isolation. Puri has been witnessing a spike in positive cases for the last few days with over 50 cases reported on Monday and Tuesday.

Notably, the temple administration recently restricted entry of devotees into the shrine every Sunday to carry out the sanitisation drive in the entire premises.
