Through an effective Covid control mechanism in Uttar Pradesh that included strict screening, proper treatment and aggressive vaccination, as many as 30 districts have completely eliminated new cases of coronavirus infection.
Active and fresh cases have declined to zero in Aligarh, Amroha, Auraiya, Ayodhya, Azamgarh, Baghpat, Ballia, Banda, Bahraich, Bhadohi, Bijnor, Farrukhabad, Gonda, Hamirpur, Hapur, Hathras, Kanpur Dehat, Kasganj, Mahoba, Mirzapur, Moradabad, Muzaffarnagar, Pilibhit, Pratapgarh, Rampur, Saharanpur, Shamli, Shravasti, Sitapur and Sultanpur.
In what comes as another big relief, none of the 75 districts in Uttar Pradesh have reported fresh cases of coronavirus infection in double digits lately, indicating that the dangerous virus is receding from the state.
Besides, in the last 24 hours, as many as 67 districts reported no case of coronavirus infection.
Out of the 2.09 lakh samples tested in the last 24 hours, only 17 tested positive for COVID-19 and as a result, the test positivity rate (TPR) slumped to 0.01 per cent in Uttar Pradesh.
In the corresponding period, another 12 COVID-19 patients recovered from the infection, adding to the recovery of over 16.86 lakh people so far, pushing the recovery rate in the state up to 98.7 per cent. The active caseload in the most populous state that was at a high of 3,10,783 in April, has been reduced to 196 now.
Uttar Pradesh has administered over 9.72 crore Covid vaccine doses so far and the impressive pace of vaccination has catapulted the state to the top position in the country. In addition, the state has also achieved the landmark of administering the first dose of the Covid vaccine to over 52.78 per cent of eligible adult population. Over 1.75 crore people in the state have been fully vaccinated.
UP has set an example before other states of the country besides controlling the infection in a short time. States like Maharashtra and Kerala with lesser populations lag behind with 7.56 crore and 3.43 crore doses of Covid vaccine delivered, respectively.
