Rolling up its sleeves to contain Covid infection in the wake of the return of the virus in some States, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has formed five special squads.
As per the fresh guidelines issued by the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC), the squads are visiting the market places to ensure strict observance of Covid-19 safety protocols such as mandatory wearing of mask and maintaining physical distancing in all public places, informed BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary. “The enforcement squads are monitoring the situation closely in the market areas. They are announcing through mikes in shopping malls and religious paces to follow the Covid safety protocols. The volunteers have been requested to join the campaign to create awareness among public about rise in infections. We are also trying to ensure safety protocol compliance through social media,” he said. Speaking about the Covid guidelines, he said that wearing mask in public places is mandatory and it had never been withdrawn despite decline in cases in the city. “Even as the single-day spike has declined in Bhubaneswar, we need to take precautions in battle against the virus,” Chaudhary said.
In the wake of new strains of Coronavirus, the SRC has issued 10-point guidelines for the district authorities, civic bodies and SPs to be followed at all levels.
