ACB arrests 2 government employees for taking bribe

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday arrested two government employees in Chhattisgarh’s Raipur and Baloda Bazar districts for taking bribes.

They are Assistant Director of Education Department Dr N.K. Agrawal in Raipur city and an Assistant Grade II employee Rathram Banjare, ACB Superintendent of Police Panakaj Chandra told The Pioneer.

Agrawal demanded Rs 50,000 in lieu of changing the designation/grade of the complainant, Chandra said.

He was caught while accepting Rs 50,000 at the office Directorate of Public Instructions (DPI) at Pension Bada in Raipur.

Banjare, an accountant at the office of Block Education Officer in Baloda Bazar, sought Rs 2.35 lakh to release GPF, GIS, gratuity and medical claims, the officer said. He was arrested while accepting Rs 15,000 as an advance to release the money.
