Auction for the players of Barbil Super League (BSL-2) was held here recently. Prior to the auction, total 182 players which include 127 from Barbil Tehsil and 57 from rest of Odisha had registered their names online with Mining Area Cricket Association (MACA) - the managing body organising the league and eight franchisees had participated in the auction.
Before the start of auction chairman of MACA, Laltu Mahanta inaugurated the programme in the presence of president Lachhman Mahanta, vice president Vikram Saroragi, secretary Sunil Sinha, joint secretary Sunil Gupta and other office bearers of MACA.
While Amit Mohanty of Baripada was retained by AJ Fitness at bidding price of Rs 15,600 , Amarendra Samanta of Sundargarh and Harekrishna Ghosh of Baripada were retained by YBCC - Rana Rangers and Samal Auto- 11 respectively at a same bidding price of Rs 11,200 each. Similarly, the bidding prices of local players like Deep Singh ,Barbil for RACC ,Dipti Ranjan Dash ,Bolani for AJ Fitness and Gurbir Singh , Barbil for GN Sporting Club were Rs 9,100, Rs 9,000 and Rs 8,400 respectively. In the year, NGO Native Voice had started the league match to promote the game of cricket in the mining area.
