Bastar Police launches plantation drive

Bastar police have launched a nine-day long plantation drive on Sunday as “Pothla Uraskana” started in police premises in all seven districts of Bastar Range.

 In local tribal Gondi dialect “Pothla Uraskana” means plantation festival.The green festival was inaugurated with a cleanliness and plantation drive conducted in Adawal Police Residential Colony on the outskirts of Jagdalpur town.

Bastar (Range) Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sundarraj P said that the plantation drive started on friendship day and it will culminate on August 9, World tribal Day.

``This initiative will serve as a medium for the police personnel to strengthen the bond with nature as well as native population’’, the IGP claimed.

The families of police personnel, particularly the children from Police residential colonies and local residents participated in the plantation drive.

Bastar region is made up of Bastar, Kanker, Kondagaon, Narayanpur, Dantewada, Bijapur and Sukma districts.
