BJD to launch mass awareness on State Govt programmes

The extended meeting of the executive committee of Ganjam district BJD was held at Bhanjanagar last week in which thousands of party workers and senior leaders from different parts of the district and office bearers attended. District BJD president and former MLA Ramesh Chandra Chyau Pattnaik presided over the meeting while the district vice-president Sanjeet Kumar Panigrahi moved the political proposals.

A number of dignitaries, senior leaders, Ministers and MLAs of the BJD attended the meet, including chief observer for Ganjam district and State BJD vice-president and MLA Devi Mishra, State Industry and Mines Minister Prafulla Samal, State Minister of Forests and Environment Bikram Keshari Arukh, Kandhamal MP Achyuta Samant, Aska MP Pramila Mallick, MLA Ananta  Narayan Jena, Chairman of Ganjam District Planning Board and Polasara MLA Srikanta Sahu, Brahmapur MLA Bikram Kumar Panda, Surada MLA Purnna Chandra Swain, Kabisuryanagar MLA Latika Pradhan, Aska MLA Manjula Swain, Khallikote MLA Suryamani Baida, Chairperson of Zilla Parishad Sahanam Pollai; State BJD secretary and senior youth leader Tumbanath Panda, besides senior functionaries from the students wing, Mahila Morcha and Youth wing of the party.

The meeting, in public interest, also adopted six key political proposals for Ganjam district which include establishment of one agricultural college in district, construction of rail line/rail connectivity from Gopalpur to Redhakhole via Phulbani and from Brahmapur to Rayagada; establishment of wagon factory at Sithalapalli village; construction of one rail coach depo at Brahmapur; establishment of fishing port in coastal areas of Ganjam;  and establishment of a state of art regular domestic and cargo airport near Brahmapur. Similarly, the meeting also unanimously adopted four organisational related proposals which include appeal to all party workers, office bearers  and functionaries to take oath to collectively fight in upcoming Panchayat election; complete selection/nomination of members to different organisational posts of party within seven days; strengthen party’s different Mahila wings right from grass root level.

It made an appeal to Youth and Students wing of party to come forward to make people aware of various development and pro-people initiatives taken by CM through door to door campaign.

The meeting, among other things, moved a resolution thanking State Government for its exemplary steps on free-health care and sports  which include implementation of “Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana” for poor and issue of smart card for providing free health care services up to Rs 5 lakh to male members and Rs 10 lakh to female members starting from primary health center to selected super specialist hospitals across the country; for successful combating and controlling of Covid-19 in State; state of art  infrastructure for promoting sports in State and achievement of Odisha players in 2020 Olympic games; building of country’s  largest hockey stadium at Rourkella as a preparatory measure for 2023 World Cup; extending 10 more years for sponsoring Indian Hockey Players; proposal for construction of 89 more indoor stadiums in urban areas; transformation of high schools in Ganjam district with state of art infrastructure and implementing reservation of 15per cent for  meritorious students in Government Schools.
