The ongoing tussle between BJP and Congress over deaths due to lack of oxygen supply in the second wave of Coronavirus escalated on Monday with State BJP president Deepak Prakash daring his Congress counterpart and Finance Minister Rameshwar Oraon to swear on Lord Rama’s name and tell the number of people, who died due to lack of oxygen in State. Prakash, taking strong observation on Oraon’s remark where he had asked the BJP to swear in Lord Rama’s name and tell the number of people who died due to lack of oxygen supply.
Prakash, attacking Congress leadership, said that the State Congress leadership is misleading people. He said, “The party (Congress) which had doubted the existence of Lord Rama is now remembering Lord Rama.” He said that people of the State have the right to know the number of deaths due to lack of oxygen supply in the State.
He termed this statement of Oraon as ridiculous, in which he said that the central government will have to pay compensation for the death due to coronavirus.
The BJP president said that the State Government has misled people in the corona crisis. He said that people managed to survive not due to the efforts of the government, but by their own efforts and by the grace of God. He said that even the state ministers tried to mislead people on corona vaccination.
The BJP was in a defensive mood after JMM joined ranks of opposition parties such as AAP, Trinamool Congress and Congress and claimed that the Centre lied to Parliament about the deaths which occurred due to shortage of oxygen during the second wave of Covid pandemic.
The JMM had also demanded a nationwide audit by the Centre of all the deaths which occurred due to Covid-19 since the outbreak of the pandemic last year.
