Food provided to beggars, destitute in BBSR 

Bhubaneswar: A team of Congress leader Rajiv Pattanaik is distributing food packets to beggars, destitute, mentally-retarded people and labourers in Bhubaneswar since the lockdown began. The team is also distributing masks and sanitisers to these people and making them aware about the life-threatening coronavirus and advising them to follow strictly the Covid-19 guidelines.

Eid a low-key affair in Brahmapur

Brahmapur: In view of the Covid pandemic, the celebration of holy Eid-ul-Fitr remained a low-key affair in Brahmapur city. Instead of mass prayers in mosques, people of the Muslim community offered prayers at their homes. “And even in houses, we all maintained social distancing,” “said BJD youth wing vice-president SA Khallil. “It is our responsibility to keep corona at bay; and for that, we should follow Covid guidelines,” he added.

Noble Cause helps B’pur Covid patients 

Brahmapur: The Noble Cause Group has joined hands with the Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) to help Covid patients. The organisation is providing oximeters, sanitisers and masks besides packed food to around 150 people at medical and the old bus-stand. On the International Nurse Day, sanitisers, laundry shampoo and masks were distributed among nurses at the Janana Hospital and the MKCG Hospital. A spokesman of the organisation said they are also trying to arrange oxygen cylinders for the needy patients at their doorsteps and a panel of doctors is serving round the clock providing online consultancy and prescribing medicines.

HAL announces 10-day shutdown

Koraput: The Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) Koraput Division announced a complete shutdown from May 15 to 23; and additionally, as May 14 being Eid holiday, this date also added. For these days, the employees will be out of work as a Covid precautionary step, said a company official. The employees have been asked to work additional three and a half hours per shift for next few days after the shutdown period to adjust the lost working hours.
