Can never be fake Kejriwal as I can’t be treacherous and cunning as he is: Channi

Categorically rejecting the Delhi Model, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Thursday said that the State is witnessing “Channi Model” which stands for equal opportunities for all.

“Channi model is in unison with the teachings of the Great Sikh Gurus who have shown us the way of equality and brotherhood. This model is being implemented in the State for its progress and prosperity of its people...and this model will be there till I am in this office,” said the Chief Minister while addressing a gathering during a function to unveil the statue of Maharaja Agarsen.

The Chief Minister said that this model does not allow any one person or family to plunder the resources of the State. However, the Channi model is based on giving equal access to all for resources and opportunities in the State, he said while asking the people to support this model so that pristine glory of the State can be restored again.

Training his guns against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo and Delhi Chief Minister, Channi said that the Delhi Model of Arvind Kejriwal is nothing more than a ‘bundle of lies’.

“The Punjab Government has already taken several path breaking initiatives to benefit the masses whereas Kejriwal and his company are just making promises for them. I can never be a duplicate Kejriwal as I can’t be as treacherous and cunning as he is,” he said.

Replying to queries on the state’s financial condition, the Chief Minister said that the State Government is committed for the well being of state and its people and “there is no dearth of funds for it”.

“These funds are of the people and will be utilised for the people by the government of the people,” said Channi while adding that he is plugging the loopholes in the government’s functioning and the money currently being usurped by the middlemen will be used judiciously for well being of general public.

Badals to pay price for their sins against Punjab, says CM

Asserting that the Badal family had ruthlessly plundered Punjab, Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Thursday said they will have to pay for their sins against the State and its people.

“Badals had a hand in each and every misdeed against Punjab. Cable mafia, drug mafia, sand mafia, transport mafia, and others, all thrived under the misrule of the Badals...and this mafia looted Punjab’s wealth,” said Channi while addressing a gathering, accompanied by Punjab Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu. Channi said the patronage of the Badals to all these mafias ruined the State; but now, “they have to pay back for their sins...and the day is not too far”.

The Chief Minister said now that they have started to crack down on mafia patronised by Badals, they are running pillar to post to save them. At the same time, Channi said that the Enforcement Directorate action against cable mafia “owned by Badals” is a welcome but a delayed decision.

Meanwhile, AAP MLA from Raikot Jagtar Singh Jagga formally joined the Congress party. Notably, Jagga had announced his support to the Congress party during the Chief Minister Channi’s speech in the Vidhan Sabha.
