The Election Commission on Wednesday announced elections in 15 urban civic bodies and by-elections in 13 more covering 10 districts on December 20. The candidates can file nomination papers through online mode.
State Election Commissioner Thakur Ram Singh told the media that the publication of notification by district collectors will be done on November 27. The same day, a list of the reservation of seats and polling booths will be published.
The last date for submission of nomination papers is December 3. The scrutiny will be done the next day. The candidates can withdraw their names till December 6. The polling is scheduled on December 20 from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm.
The counting and declaration of results will be done on December 23.
The election is scheduled for Nagar Panchayat Bhairamgarh and Bhopalpatnam (Bijapur district), Municipal Corporation Birgaon (Raipur), Nagar Panchayat Naharpur (Kanker), Municipal Corporation Bhilai, Municipal Corporation Risali, Municipal Corporation Bhilai-Charoda and Municipal Council Jamul (Durg), Municipal Council Khairagarh (Rajnandgaon), Nagar Panchayat Maro (Bemetara), Municipal Council Baikunthpur and Shivpurcharch (Korea), Nagar Panchayat Prem Nagar (Surajpur), Nagar Panchayat Konta (Sukma) and Municipal Council Sarangarh (Raigarh).
The by-election for wards is scheduled for Nagar Panchayat Devkar, Municipal Council Thankhamariya, Municipal Council Bemetara, Municipal Corporation Rajnandgaon, Municipal Council Gobra Nawapara, Municipal Corporation Bilaspur, Municipal Council Kondagaon, Municipal Council Bade Bacheli, Nagar Panchayat Basna, Kurud, Magarload and Utai and Municipal Corporation Raigarh.The total electorate is 778,420.
