Covid-19: State vaccinates over 1.20L residents

Jharkhand on Wednesday vaccinated more than 1.20 lakh residents against Covid-19, while the active caseload of SARS-CoV-2 infection dropped to 110 as Covid recoveries outnumbered fresh cases of infection, figures compiled by the health department highlighted.

As per provisional data shared by the National Health Mission (NHM), the state on Wednesday administered the first dose of vaccine to as many as 80,711 residents, while the second dose was administered to at least 40,426 beneficiaries. Nearly 90,000 beneficiaries vaccinated on the day fell in the age bracket of 18 years to 44 years.

At least 1,573 session sites remained operational in Jharkhand on the day and East Singhbhum vaccinated more than 22,000 residents, the highest among the 24 districts in the state. Ranchi, on the other hand, vaccinated close to 15,000 beneficiaries on Wednesday, while about 10,000 residents got vaccinated in Dhanbad, Government data highlighted.

Meanwhile, the state on Wednesday reported at least 10 fresh cases of coronavirus infection against 11 Covid recoveries, a separate bulletin from the NHM stated.

As per NHM data, Ranchi alone accounted for five of the 10 fresh cases of Covid-19. However, the active caseload dropped to 67 in Ranchi as the district also reported eight Covid recoveries on the day. West Singhbhum, Pakur, Khunti, East Singhbhum and Dhanbad reported one Covid case each, while 18 of 24 districts did not report fresh cases of coronavirus infection on the day.

Jharkhand on Wednesday tested swab samples of at least 41,387 residents and 0.02 per cent of them tested positive for Covid-19. The State has so far reported more than 3.48 lakh cases of Covid-19 and 98.48 per cent of the patients have recovered, while 1.47 per cent of patients could not survive.

As per Government data, there were zero active cases of Covid-19 in at least 10 districts by the end of Wednesday. Ranchi, as per Government data, accounted for more than half of the 110 active cases in the State.

According to a press communique released by the health department on Wednesday evening, over 1.21 crore residents have received at least one dose of vaccine against Covid-19 in the state so far and at least 32 lakh of them have also got the second jab.
