Eco friendly Ganesha Chaturthi was celebrated in city on Sunday. Ganesh Utsav was celebrated on eco friendly theme with making bottle bricks by children, youngsters and women of Shalimar Sterling Complex and its surroundings.
Plastic does the work of spoiling the health of this earth the most. Every day lakhs of tonnes of plastic waste is generated in the city, whose proper disposal is a big challenge. The work of saving and making the earth useful from this plastic waste was done by children and women through Swachhata brand ambassador and environmental organisation Helpbox Foundation.
It is to be noted that these bottle bricks is made from plastic waste which will be used for making plant beds, beautiful partitions and wall hangings.
During the ten-day Ganesh festival, eco-friendly clay Ganesha was installed in the premises and the residents put out various types of plastic waste in their homes, filled in unusable pet bottles and gave them for recycling and reuse. Composted manure was made by the residents from the flowers that came out after worship in Ganesh Utsav and Maha Aarti was performed by decorating eco-friendly plate.
Swachhata Brand Ambassador and environmental organization Helpbox’s Kavita Awakarkar taught children the method of making useful items from bottle bricks and waste plastic with the Reuse-Reuse-Recycle concept. During this, the disadvantages of plastic and various ways to prevent them were told.
All the participants were awarded by the Helpbox as Environment Warrior (Environment Warrior) and the certificate was presented by the Society president R Singh.
