Police on Saturday seized 45 cartons of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and country-made liquor valued at Rs 27 lakhs from three places and arrested eight men for ferrying them from Madhya Pradesh to Chhattisgarh.
Those arrested were Ramheet Jaiswar, Ramchandar Rajbhar, Sanjay Verma, A. Madhukar Rao, Vinod Kumar Sonwani, Sunil Patel, Roshan Patel and Doman Nishad, Raipur Additional Superintendent of Police Tarkeshwar Patel said. The first four hail from Durg and the others are from Bemetara district. Jaiswar and Rajbhar were nabbed from Urla while Verma, Rao and Sonwani were held from Dharsiwa. The Patels and Nishad were arrested from the Vidhan Sabha police station limits.Police intercepted their vehicles at Patharidih, Dondekhurd and Murethi villages in Raipur, the officer added.
