There is no river or canal at Jajpur Road. However, always rain creates havoc for the whole 26 Wards under Vyasanagar Municipality.
Over several years it is said that efforts are on to streamline drainage system of the Municipality but nothing tangible happens. The Municipal authorities have been lending a deaf ear to the people’s genuine problems.
Due to lack of proper drains, many areas have been experiencing waterlogging due to incessant rain in last 2-3 days. In Ward No.12 from Late Karam Chand Laha house to Building Centre Chhak through Priyadarsini Road, the road has been completely inundated.
Similarly, in Ward No.03 from Upendranath Mohanty house to Sapagadia Chhak there is no drain. So waterlogging is a permanent issue here. The Vyasanagar Tehsil Office premises also witnessed flood like situation.
Ward No.2 Panasia Basti, Bus stand area, Umapada, Stadium area, Ganesh Bazar, Binapani Sahi and many areas of the municipality were lying submerged.
A JE staying here for more than 10 years has been playing dirty games, alleged many. It is said that he has political connections. It is also alleged that he takes PC for every construction works.
A senior citizen and social worker, Upendranath Mohanty has been demanding for a drain at Ward No.3 to Sapagadia Chhak for a long time, but no one is paying any heed.
