BJP Rajya Sabha member MJ Akbar must resign forthwith, demanded Freethought Party of India (FPI) general secretary B Ramchandra CST Voltaire while welcoming the judgment delivered by Delhi Court’s Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate in a sexual harassment case against Akbar on Wednesday.
"The FPI is one with the Delhi Court’s Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s observation that Right to Reputation can’t over-ride a citizen’s Right to Life and Personal Liberty (Article 21) and his/her Right to Equality and Dignity (Article 14), said a FPI release. The “#Me Too” movement yielded its historic result in India on February 17. The court has rightly said, “The woman has a right to put her grievance at any platform of her choice and even after decades,” while accepting Priya Ramini’s argument that she spoke out against Akabar after two decades of the incident in public interest and for the public good, it added.
