An exhibition of paintings of Gond artist Mangroo Uike 'Shalaka 20' is being displayed in the 'Likhandra Gallery' of the Madhya Pradesh Tribal Museum.
This painting exhibition will continue till December 30. The displayed paintings will also be available for sale, which can be purchased from the painter. Ink and acrylic colors have been used in these paintings.
Along with this, paintings related to environment, animals, fort and many other stories are seen.
Paintings include fox and bird group, deer bird pair, bassin girl, tree and tiger, deer and bird, deer and bird, fish ship, deer and bird, tree and deer, peacock and tree and tiger, birds eating fruit from tree, fruit, creatures and other subjects are visible.
Painter Mangroo Uikey was born in the year 1977 in Patangarh village of Dindori, Madhya Pradesh. Mangroo Uike is a young painter of Pardhan, a sub-caste of Gond.
Mangroo's childhood was spent in the village and his early education was also done in the village itself. Whatever story he heard from father and elder brother while collecting forest produce and collecting wood, it would get recorded somewhere in his mind.
Considered Jangarh Singh Shyam as his art guru and learned from him the nuances of painting, color combinations, variety of shapes etc.
Mangroo lived with his art guru for about 10 years and, collaborating on the paintings made by him, began to paint for himself.
In the last 20 years, Mangroo has exhibited his paintings in many art galleries of the country and has also participated in painting camps organized in different cities of the country including Bhopal, New Delhi, Bangalore.
