Govt hospital in Ramnagar receives NABH certification’

The Ram Dutt Joshi hospital in Ramnagar has been granted entry level certificate by the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH). This is the first government hospital of Uttarakhand to receive the NABH certification. The Ram Dutt Joshi hospital is operated in the public private partnership mode under the World Bank funded Uttarakhand health system development project.

Various criteria are ascertained for the NABH certification. The patient-centric standards include consistency and regular evaluation of patient care, medicine management, patient rights and education, and hospital infection management. The organisation centric standards ascertained for the certification include consistent quality improvement, human resource development and information management system. According to official sources, the certification will result in various benefits to the patients. These include better healthcare, development of patient-centric culture, more focus on quality and patient safety, improvement in the level of patient satisfaction, better level of public trust, easier recognition by outside organisations and easier empanelment by insurance agencies.
