A Naxalite involved in an attack in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district which left 76 security personnel dead in 2010 was arrested on Monday, police said.
Moti Ram Awalam (30) was from the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) Battalion No 1, Bijapur Superintendent of Police Kamlochan Kashyap said. He carried a reward of Rs 8 lakh on his head.
Awalam was caught between Patelpara and Golgunda villages on Sunday by a joint team of the CRPF, STF and district police.
He was involved in five Naxalite attacks in Sukma and one in Bijapur district.
Besides the Tadmetla (Sukma) attack which killed 76 security personnel, he was also involved in a 2017 Burkapal (Sukma) ambush that killed 25 CRPF troopers, a 2016 Kasalpaad (Sukma) attack where 16 CRPF troops died, a 2015 Tondamarka (Sukma) attack in which five security personnel died and a 2016 Pidmel (Sukma) attack which killed STF troopers.
He was also involved in a serial blast and firing on security forces in January 2021 in Tarrem region in Bijapur district.
