Haryana reports 2,937 fresh Covid-19 cases, second highest single- day rise in 4 months, 11 more deaths

The Covid-19 tally in Haryana surged to 313,441 on Saturday with 2937 fresh cases, the second biggest single-day jump in over four months while the death toll climbed to 3252 as 11 more people succumbed to the disease, a health department bulletin said. State had reported 2994 Covid-19 cases, the highest single- day jump since January, this year, a day before.

Two deaths each were reported from Ambala, Panchkula, Yamunanagar districts and one each from Jind, Fatehabad, Bhiwani, Kurukshetra and Karnal districts, it said.  Among the districts that reported a big spike in cases are Gurugram (864), Karnal (271), Panchkula (217), Sonepat (203), Faridabad  (200),  Kurukshetra (181), Yamunanagar (168) Hisar (124), Ambala (123), Rohtak (121) and Panipat (104) districts.The number of active cases in Haryana stands at 19,453. The state has a recovery rate of 92.76 per cent, the bulletin stated.

HARYANA TO REGULATE AND RESTRICT ACTIVITIES, SOPs ISSUED

Due to the prevailing conditions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Haryana Government has decided to regulate and restrict various activities and has issued guidelines (SOPs) to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

Financial Commissioner, Haryana and Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Revenue and Disaster Management, Sanjeev Kaushal has issued an order to all the Administrative Secretaries, Director General of Police, Haryana, all the Divisional Commissioners and all the Deputy Commissioners of the State.

The State Government has decided to declare vacation in all the Government and Private Schools in the State for the classes from Class 1st to Class 8th upto April 30. However, teachers will attend the schools without any change and will do their administrative works such as preparation of results, admissions and other work processes will continue without any change.

Kaushal said the State Government has decided to close Anganwadi Centres and Crèches under the Women and Child Development Department till April 30 and District Programme Officers and Women and Child Development Project Officers (WCDPOs) have been instructed to follow the process of working of Anganwadi Centres as it was followed during the lockdown period and provide all services of ICDS, including distribution of Supplementary Nutrition Diet (SNP) Programme at the doorstep of the beneficiaries.

 

398 FRESH CASES IN CHANDIGARH, 3 DEATHS

Chandigarh on Saturday reported three Coronavirus deaths and 398 more new Covid-19 pushed the infection tally to 30,341 in the joint capital of Punjab and Haryana.

The city had seen 442 and 341 cases on April 9 and April 4 respectively. Till now, the infection has claimed 396 lives, according to a medical bulletin. The number of active cases stood at 3265. A total of 343 patients were discharged, taking the number of cured persons to 26,680, as per the bulletin.  A total of 3,37,663 samples have been taken for testing so far, of which 3,06,276 tested negative while reports of 130 samples are awaited, the bulletin said.

Moreover, as many as 4730 beneficiaries were given the Covid-19 vaccine at 55 sites in the city on Saturday. A total of 114,327 beneficiaries have been vaccinated in the city so far.  Director of UT Health services, DHS Dr Amandeep Kang said that the Chandigarh health department will intensify Covid-19 vaccination drive by reaching out to the community, including offices, RWAs among others. The programmme will commence from April 11 to April 14 in order to inoculate maximum number of eligible beneficiaries. Even after April 14, the health department will continue with the campaign, she added.
