HCL co-founder shares experiences with schoolchildren

Students of Delhi Government schools on Thursday interacted with Arjun Malhotra, co-founder of HCL, as part of the Entrepreneurship Mindset Curriculum (EMC).

The students asked many questions related to the challenges Malhotra faced in his journey during the live interaction session. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was also present at this interaction.

Sharing his experiences, Malhotra, said, “Self-motivation and self-confidence are very important to move ahead in life. During the start of HCL, I believed that micro-processors would bring a big change in the computer world, so I left my job and started HCL along with my friends. When you do any work, think about how to save time, how to improve it, when you start doing this, then there will be no problem for which you do not have a solution. Always try to find smarter people than yourself and listen to their words carefully. Also, learn to accept your wrong decisions. These things will help you to be successful in your journey as an entrepreneur.”

Motivating the students, he further said, “To become a better and successful entrepreneur, it is important how you treat your co-workers. As a team leader, you should always support and encourage your team members. You must make the people working with you feel important, this will increase their ability to work. Every night before sleeping, think about all the work done by you during the day and if you have done something wrong, then the next day apologise to the person concerned, your behaviour will help you move forward.”

Giving the mantra of ‘Learning Leads Achievement’ to the children, he stated that “you must always be ready to learn and keep learning as it will help you to move forward. He said that you can be an expert in any one subject, but apart from that, you should always be ready to learn other things. To grow as an entrepreneur, it is necessary to act as an all-rounder.”

Sisodia who also holds the portfolio of Education Minister said, “The Entrepreneurship Mindset Curriculum will develop a growth mindset in children so that whether they become an entrepreneur or get a job in any company, they will always keep moving forward.

No matter how many degrees you have, but if you do not have an entrepreneurial mindset, then those degrees are of no importance. By studying EMC, children will become job providers instead of job seekers and make developing India, a developed India.”
