olice have arrested Munna Singh, former driver of Health Minister Banna Gupta, on the charges of sexual exploitation. The accused was arrested from Mango on Wednesday.

A 34-year-old woman had recently approached senior SP, M Tamil Vanan complaining about inaction of Kadma police station in arresting the former driver of Gupta. Following the complaint police came into action.

Mother of two girls, the victim was also allegedly harassed by the driver, Munna Singh, repeatedly after a case was registered with the Kadma police station against the accused on the instructions of the civil court.

Though the case was registered against the accused a month ago, the police were yet to arrest the accused, leading the victim to want to meet senior SP, M Tamil Vanan.

However, sensing the seriousness of the case, the police arrested the accused from Mango and sent him to jail.

The victim said the Kadma police had not accepted the FIR which she wanted to lodge against Munna in April, leading her to approach the court in May.

“After submitting a complaint petition with the court and giving evidence of the physical exploitation and duping of `6 lakh action was taken, “ said the victim.

“ Initially, the Kadma police station did not accept my FIR and when I filed a complaint with the court, leading the court to instruct the Kadma police station to register the case, the police were not arresting the accused. I wanted to know from a senior police officer exactly why the accused is not being arrested, “ said the victim.  According to the victim, the accused Munna had befriended her in the year 2012 and had developed physical relationship making a promise to marry her.

“Not only did Munna physically exploit her but also took Rs 6.5 lakh from her in the pretext of buying an excavator. But after getting the money, he ended the relationship and evaded paying my money back,” she said.

The victim who is a resident of Bhatia Bustee in Kadma said ever since the case was registered with the Kadma police station, the accused Munna Singh is visiting her house and pressuring her to withdraw the case.

OC, Kadma police station, Manoj Thakur admitted a case has been registered against Munna Singh on a court complaint by a divorcee.
