Selja slams BJP-JJP over women reservation issue

Chandigarh: President, Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee, Kumari Selja said the BJP-JJP Government has once again highlighted its anti-women mentality. Haryana Government had lied about 50 per cent reservation for women in the Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs). This decision of the Government will stop women from contesting on the remaining 50 percent seats. The government's confinement of women to 50 percent seats in PRIs exposes its anti-women face.  The government should give women a chance to contest elections on reserved seats as well as unreserved seats, she added.

 

PGIMER conducts dry run for COVID-19 vaccination

Chandigarh: The Covid-19 vaccination dry run was successfully held at health and wellness center (HWC), Sector-49 under the guidance of Prof. Madhu Gupta, Department of Community Medicine and School of Public Health, PGIMER. She said that HWC-49 is one of the designated sites for Covid-19 vaccination in Chandigarh. The doctors and staff members have been trained for Covid-19 vaccination. Three rooms have been reserved for the vaccination which include a waiting room, vaccination room and observation room. Five vaccination officers have been deputed for it.

 

‘EDUCON-2020’ concluded at CUPB

Bathinda: Central University of Punjab, Bethesda (CUPB) and Global Educational Research Association (GERA) has successfully organised the two-day Virtual International Akhand Conference EDUCON-2020. On the last day, UGC Chairperson Prof. Dhirendra Pal Singh delivered the valedictory address. In this International Conference, the acclaimed academicians & scholars from United Kingdom, Canada, Thailand, USA, Australia, Bhutan and India continuously discussed the ten subthemes of the focal theme “Envisioning Education for Transforming Youth to Realize Global Peace” for around 31 hours. Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ had inaugurated the “EDUCON 2020” through a video conferencing platform.
