A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed through a virtual meeting between SAIL-BOKARO STEEL PLANT and IIIT Hyderabad for use of the latest technology in steel production processes, especially Industry-4 technologies. The MoU was signed by Atanu Bhowmik, Executive Director (Works) on behalf of BSL. On this occasion, CGM (Maintenance & Digital Champion) BSL S Mukhopadhyay, CGM (C&A & Communication) Bipin Krishna Saratpe and in virtual mode IIIT Hyderabad Prof. PJ Narayanan (Director, IIIT Hyderabad), Prof. Ramesh Lognathan (Chairman Outreach Committee, IIIT Hyderabad) were present.
Under this MoU, BSL and IIIT Hyderabad will work jointly to bring innovations in technology and product through Industry-4 technologies in steel production. Mr Bhowmik and Mr Mukhopadhyay expressed confidence that the joint effort of BSL and IIIT Hyderabad will be instrumental in the plant's digital transformation journey and towards Industry-4 consequently will help Bokaro Steel Plant meet its future challenges in terms of quality, production and productivity. Prof. Lognathan also stressed on the importance of Artificial Intelligence for Industry-4 and expressed happiness over IIIT Hyderabad working on research in the area of Artificial Intelligence to improve productivity. It is noteworthy that Bokaro Steel Plant has also signed MoU with IIT Roorkee for the technical redressal of steel production and related problems.
