With the arrest of six people, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has busted an international drug syndicate which was being operated from Lahore in Pakistan. The NCB officials said that they have also recovered 56 kilogram of heroin from the accused.
According to KPS Malhotra, the Zonal Director of NCB Delhi said, on June 3, the Border Security Force had (BSF) recovered 56.501 kg of heroin at India-Pakistan border in Rajasthan, one of the biggest haul this year.
“The drug was smuggled into India through PVC plastic pipes. The receivers of the contraband fled from the spot and could not be apprehended. The case was handed over to NCB, Jodhpur for investigation,” he said.
“During investigation, it was revealed that the suspected supplier of the seized heroin is one Malik Choudhary of Lahore, Pakistan. One of the most wanted offenders, Jasbir Singh was apprehended Thursday at Hoshiyarpur Punjab by NCB with Technical and Human Intelligence,” he said.
“Three more accused, Rajvinder Singh, Sukhpreet Singh and Sunil Singh, all residents of Rajasthan were also arrested for harbouring the prime accused and conducting recce of the border for smuggling of heroin,” he said.
“Earlier, on June 4, with co-operation of local police, BSF and local villagers two out of four accused who came to receive the contraband namely Rupa, a resident of Ferozepur in Punjab and Harmesh Singh, a resident of Fazilka, Punjab were arrested,” said the senior NCB official.
“Further, investigation in the case is under progress to break the nexus of drug syndicate operating internationally and uncovering all backward and forward linkages,” the official added.
