Neuro-leadership: Work-hybrid journey in Covid pandemic

Wednesday, 16 June 2021 | DEEPIKA SWAIN, LALATENDU KESARI JENA

It’s true that the bane of Covid is continuing through the 2021. But are we perturbed? The straight answer is a clear ‘No’. Undoubtedly, the initial months of Covid triggered panic of joblessness. This anxiety definitely took many lives. Stricter lockdowns were imposed, increasing the insecurity and cluelessness. Social distancing grew to the level of distancing from the society. As per ILO, 81 million jobs were lost in Asia-Pacific labour markets during the pandemic. Massive drop in working hour has pushed millions into the ditch of working poverty.

The swift move of the corporate houses floated several flexi work hybrid options re-opening new avenues for them to register a come-back from their working poverty.

The entire world is undergoing a massive metamorphosis, where our changed lifestyle, renewed business strategies, and changing management philosophies are indicating our rapid immunity development against Covid-19. Accommodating to this new change has given rise to some anxious internal feeling, fear, and insecurity. The unpredictable moves of the virus control the hidden feeling of us in dangerously suspicious way creating a set of reflex actions. These resultant reflexes if slowly sink to the sub-conscious mind, then they will start deteriorating the mental stability in a consistently subtle manner.

Neuro-leaders understand the importance of decoding the subconscious beliefs within a quick span of time. The best resort to this concern is a foray into the subconscious level, which is why neurocounselling.

Neuro-counselling is a relatively new approach in treatment of many suppressed feelings. Trained counsellors can help clients bridge the gap between brain and behaviour by becoming “brain-wise” and using neurocounselling interventions that target recovery and relapse prevention.

Making brain-wise decisions available each brain wise is the forte of neuro-counselling. The feedback of these angel counsellors acted as the guiding light to the corporate resilience. The result is the quick corporate transition from ‘No trust’ to ‘trust’.

Today, in India and across the globe around 90% people are working from home from some remote location. The ball of economy is rolling and will continue to do so in the days to come. Trust on self-resilience, and corporate resilience has emitted its fragrance throughout the working community. The IBM is operating with 95% of its employee working from home, The TCS is planning to make 75% of its employees to adopt and adapt to WFH or WFA.

The Twitter has already allowed a sizeable chunk of its workforce to work forever from home. The most important reason for our vigour in crisis management is trust.

A tremendous amount of trust has made the corporate houses valuing their employee base, offering them the liberty to choose the place of work.  The vision of Jack Niles (Father of WFH concept) way back in 1973 is coming as a rescue in form of WFH (Work from home), WFA (Work from anywhere), WNH (Work near home), remote working, and telecommuting.

Trust that we are capable, trust that we will be victorious and trust that everything will be normal is giving input to the eternal law of attraction; hence it is braiding strands of bold steps to come out of the deadly-clutches of Covid-19.

By understanding brain science and valuing people, we can unlock the unexpected benefits of the hybrid workplace.

Our progress into a diverse understanding has heightened the degree of acquiescence making the difficult times get simplified, if not nullified. We see a great amount of adopt- and- adapt practices everywhere we can think of.  The society has seen not only working women but working men too. Dada chefs, kiddie helpers, sound roads, chirping birds, reduced AQI, revered relations and many more new changes are whispering the new normals of today, indicating to us that the ‘dynamic normal’ has arrived.
