New WhatsApp help desk for Delhiites’ corona queries: Jain

Health Minister Satyendar Jain on Wednesday officially launched a new WhatsApp corona help desk for the people of Delhi. Vaccine locator, tele-consultation and information about oxygen cylinder refilling stations are some key features of this WhatsApp corona help desk.

The people of Delhi can now get accurate, authentic, and up-to-date information about Covid-related resources in Delhi through this WhatsApp helpline number.

 For this, a user has to send a simple “Hi” to +911122307145 on WhatsApp. This will help the people of Delhi get all their information from one single window. To mark the launch on this occasion, the officials of WhatsApp were also present.

Jain said, “As part of our tireless attempts to combat the pandemic and to fortify our preparedness in the face of the anticipated third wave, we have built the tech-solution of a WhatsApp chatbot. We have added some new features to this chatbot to aid citizens conveniently access credible information and resources related to Covid-19 besides helping them locate their nearest vaccine centres.”

This chatbot is built on an integrated solution of WhatsApp Business API. This chatbot will make it simple and easy for the people of Delhi to fetch verified answers to their Covid-related queries from the Government of Delhi. People can find their nearest vaccination centre, available vaccine slots, hospital beds and oxygen refining centres through this chatbot. This chatbot is integrated with the CoWin Portal and the Delhi Government’s Covid War Room. Thus, it will serve as a credible source of authentic corona-related information.

To use this new WhatsApp Covid-19 Helpdesk of the Delhi Government, people of Delhi have to simply save the number +911122307145 in their phone contacts or visit [https://wa.me/911122307145]. This service is available in both Hindi and English.

During the launch, the Public Policy Director of WhatsApp, Shivnath Thukral stated, “Over the last year and a half, a simple and intuitive technology like WhatsApp has played a pivotal role in helping India in its strife against the pandemic. Delhi Government’s custom tech-solution of this WhatsApp-API Helpline chatbot will now supplement and accelerate the Government’s pandemic relief efforts and equip the people of Delhi with credible information and resources related to Covid-19.
