Raipur Traffic Police recovered fines totalling Rs 1 crore last year from traffic rule violators through e-challans, it was announced on Tuesday.
A total of Rs 99.43 lakh was collected from 14,774 persons in 2020, a press release said.
Traffic officials said that under the smart city project, RLVD cameras have been put up in all major squares. Also, surveillance cameras, wrong way cameras, number plate cameras and speed violation detection cameras have also come up across the city.
Once an e-challan is issued, a message is automatically sent on the rider’s mobile telephone or to the residence of the violator by post. The challan can be paid online on the traffic department’s website.
