Police form strategy to make lockdown effective

Sunday, 16 May 2021 | PNS | Jamshedpur

From registering FIRs against violators to increasing vigil at entry check posts, police have resorted to various measures to enforce the lockdown in the city.

Deputy Commissioner Suraj Kumar and SSP M Tamil Vanan held a virtual meeting with the senior functionaries of the district to frame strategy for the next phase of lockdown from 16 May to 27 May. The DC gave necessary instructions to strictly follow the guidelines issued for the week.

In the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner and SSP said that at present, media workers, workers of Tata Steel and other subsidiaries and other companies of the city can come to work by showing their ID cards. At the same time, instructions were also given to make inter-district and inter-state check posts active.

The Deputy Commissioner directed all BDO / CO and municipal authorities to pay special attention to Covid testing and home quarantine of the people coming to the district. SDM Dhalbhum and Ghatshila were directed to issue Section 144 orders.

SSP instructed the concerned police in-charge and SDPO to conduct regular check-in inspection. Instructions were given to enter the number of all vehicles coming to the checkpoint, name of passengers, phone number.

He said that he himself and City SP, ASP and other senior officials would also inspect the regular check-in.

Moreover, to take special care of wedding arrangements, they were instructed to strictly follow the guidelines issued by the State Government. Families will have to inform the police station three days before the wedding ceremony.

The guidelines issued by the State Government for the movement of vehicles under Health Safety Week from May 16 to May 27 were also discussed by the senior officials and gave instructions to follow in letter and spirit.

He further added that the steps are being taken to ensure that the cases are under control.  “We want to increase vigil as people are still flouting norms like wearing masks and maintaining social distance. The vehicular movement through Dobo-Kanderbera road and Mango Bridge has increased and we have set up a new check post to nab those violating norms,” he said.

"We have started increasing the vigil. Those visiting the district from outside will have to undergo the tests. Whereas the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) in the urban areas will be carried on in Government health hubs like MGM Medical College Hospital, Sadar Hospital, Khaasmahal and the private-run Tata Main Hospital, in the rural areas the test will be carried out at the primary health centres, "said an official.
