Poonch martyr Yogember Singh cremated

The mortal remains of the Rifleman Yogembar Singh were consigned to the flames at Triveni Ghat on Sunday with full military honours. In the morning his body was brought to his ancestral village Sankri, block Pokhri in Chamoli district. Large number of villagers took part in the funeral of the brave heart. He was cremated amid chanting of slogans of Bharat Mata Ki Jai and Jab Tak Suraj Chand Rahega, Yogembar Tera Nam Rahega.

He is survived by his wife Kusum Devi and one year old son Akshat.

Rifleman Singh of 17 Garhwal Rifles was posted in the 48 RR regiment on Jammu and Kashmir. 

An encounter between the security personnel and heavily armed terrorists broke out along the Line of Control (LoC) in Mendhar sub division of Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. In the encounter Singh attained martyrdom on October 14.
