Raipur has excelled in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Urban Index issued by NITI Aayog on Thursday. It secured the 20th position among 56 cities across the country, leaving behind cities like Mumbai and Hyderabad.
“Survey agency Vertical had ranked a total of 56 urban areas on 77 indicators in which Raipur got 67.36 numbers to stand at the 20th rank. Shimla was ranked number 1 with 75.5,” a communiqué from the Chhattisgarh State Planning Commission (CSPC) said.
According to information from CSPC, the position of Raipur was far better than cities like Mumbai, Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, Lucknow, Prayagraj, Ranchi and Indore.
The targets under the SDG framework are not meant to be achieved by government action alone. It requires commitment and solid action by the private sector too.
