Rashi Varunkar of Rajnandgaon in Chhattisgarh made it to the top 10 by securing 6.5 points in 9 rounds in the under 8 age group in the Western Asia Youth Online Chess Championship organized by the Sri Lanka Chess Federation.
Rajnandgaon District Chess Association Secretary Yogesh Dakalia said Rashi lost in the final round and got pushed to the eighth position.
Seventy-three players from countries like Israel, Syria, Jordan, Oman, Iraq, Iran, Sri Lanka and Uzbekistan took part.
