RLD 'Baba Saheb Ke Saath'on social media

Monday, 12 April 2021 | PNS | Lucknow

Taking a cue from the Samajwadi Party, the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) launched a new social media campaign, 'Baba Saheb Ke Saath', on Sunday.
Giving this information, RLD spokesman Anupam Mishra said to celebrate the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, the Rashtriya Lok Dal had launched a new social media campaign - Baba Saheb Ke Saath.
He said the purpose of the campaign was to showcase the vision of Babasaheb and its reach and significance in a modern, democratic India. He said the idea was to show how the youths active on social media felt connected with Baba Saheb, his works and dedication for the uplift of the Dalits and weaker sections of society.
The RLD has given a call to its workers and followers to tweet posts on social media on April 14 featuring photos of people from various regions and sections paying respect to Babasaheb or with a book authored by or on Dr BR Ambedkar or his writings. The hashtag to be used with such posts is '#Babasaheb_Ke_Saath.
RLD Vice-President Jayant Chaudhary said the party's social media campaign to commemorate Babasaheb's birth anniversary was an effort to put the spotlight on Dr Ambedkar's core idea of social cohesion.
Jayant said against the backdrop of the ongoing farmers' agitation, if they were to usher in real political and social reforms, it was important to build effective social alliances.
He said caste identity was keeping the rural masses away from realising their true potential.
"Like Babasaheb, Chaudhary Charan Singh ji also talked about promoting inter-caste marriages so that caste biases were slowly eliminated," he said.
He added that educational institutions that were run in the name of a particular caste should not be given financial assistance by the government.
"On the birth anniversary of Babasaheb, it will be the effort of RLD to reach out to more and more people through this social media campaign so that we are able to convey our shared commitment to Dr Ambedkar's ideals," he said.
