RPI leader booked for collecting money illegally for Ram Mandir

Saturday, 23 January 2021 | PNS | BILASPUR

Chhattisgarh Police on Friday registered a FIR against the Republican Party of India’s (RPI) state President for printing fake donation receipts and collecting funds for the construction of a grand Ram temple in Ayodhya.

The action was taken on a complaint from Sandip Gupta and Lalit Makhija of Bilaspur who were authorized by the ‘Ram Mandir Construction Central Committee’ to collect funds, Civil Lines police station in-charge Sandip Ratre said.

All the donors are given receipts issued by the Committee. Nobody is allowed to give their personal account number on the receipt or get it printed, Ratre added.

Usha Aafle had not only printed the receipt personally but gave her account number on it. She also appealed on social media for funds to build the Ram Temple.

Police said they were probing how much money she had collected. Aafle has been booked under Sections 419 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the officer said.
