SAD demands SC probe into ‘Call Gate’ scandal involving Goswami

Tuesday, 19 January 2021 | PNS | Chandigarh

Expressing surprise over why the Central Government had not taken note of the “Call Gate” scandal involving Republic television editor Arnab Goswami, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Monday said that the BJP Government should not let any media house compromise the national security at any cost.

SAD leader and former Minister Maheshinder Singh Grewal said that it was shocking that despite disclosures revealing that Goswami had even leaked information about Balakot strikes, the NDA Government was yet to order an inquiry into the case.

“Keeping in view the fact that the Central Government has done nothing in the case, we demand that the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court probe the case as the nation wants the truth in the case to be presented before the people,” said Grewal adding that the Chief Justice could even constitute a double bench to hear the entire case in a time bound manner.

Grewal also requested the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to launch a separate investigation against officials of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) who leaked sensitive information to Goswami on a regular basis as revealed in conversations between the latter and the Broadcast Audience Research Council chief Partho Dasgupta.

SAD leader also demanded a separate investigation into classified information in the possession of the Republic TV Editor as well as other staff members who were purview to the same. “Goswami should submit himself to questioning in this regard in the nation’s interest,” he added.
