Sarangi Vadan, Kathak dance performed under ‘Gamak’ series

Under Gamak series Ustad Alauddin Khan Sangeet and Kala Akademi broadcasted the 'Kathak Dance' by  Deepak Verma, Itarsi and 'Sarangi Vadan' by Abid Hussain, Bhopal.

The presentations were live streamed on the Department's YouTube channel and Facebook Live page on Wednesday.

The performance began by Deepak Verma, in which  he gave dance performance on Shiv Vandana Panchakshara Stotra, Kathak pure dance on delayed rhythm and middle rhythm, Sabra Girdhar (Krishna Bhajan), Madhurashtakam (Adharam-Madhuram) and Gangavataran.

Notably  while studying at Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya Khairagarh, Deepak Verma received his initial education in Kathak dance under the guidance of Vishwajit Chakraborty and is currently pursuing higher education in dance under the guidance of Professor Mandvi Singh.

 Deepak Verma is a Doordarshan graded artist, he graduated from Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya with a gold medal.  Deepak has given dance performances on many prestigious forums.

The second presentation was done by Abid Hussain, 'Sarangi Vaadan'. He started off with Raga Patdeep - Delayit - Gat - in Ek Taal and Madhyalaya and Drut Gat were presented in Teen Taal.

Abid Hussain was born in a musical family. He received his early education in music from his grandfather Ustad Rasool Khan, after which he is doing sarangi playing under the guidance of his father, the famous sarangi player Ustad Munne Khan. You got the first place in All India Music Competition of All India Radio with a gold medal.

Abid is an 'A' grade artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan. He has given presentation of sarangi on many prestigious forums of the country.
